Beautiful Placitas lies approximately 10 minutes north of the Albuquerque city limits with easy access east off of NM I-25. The general area known as Placitas, is situated at the base of the Sandia mountains. However, the actual "old village" of Placitas is located approximately between mile marker 6 and 7 on NM Hwy 165, having been a part of an historic Spanish Land Grant. Because of the topography of the area, there are also spectacular views of the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo mountains to the west and north .
